Executive Director

Job Description Summary
The Executive Director oversees and directs all operation and functions of the library, in accordance with the direction of the Library Board of Trustees. Provides the necessary leadership and management to build a high-performance culture while representing the library's overall interests with diplomacy, with City Council, city and library staff, and library users.
Critical Skills
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to inspire staff, the board and the community
  • Managerial experience, minimum of 5 years
  • Ability to implement both traditional and innovative ways to serve the community and a proven record of developing and strengthening those relationships
  • Excellent communication skills required for connecting with staff and building relationships with community members and organizations
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and management
Work Schedule:
Exempt Position

  • Annual Vacation Accrual: 5 weeks per year
  • Holidays: 7 days per year
  • Annual Sick Accrual: 12 days per year
  • Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund
