Summer Reading Program Volunteers

Thank you for signing up to be a Summer Reading Program Volunteer. Your help is much appreciated.

We count on you to be at your scheduled time each week. If you will be absent, please login and remove yourself from the shift as soon as possible.
If you need to cancel with less than one week’s notice, please email the library.

Backup List

When you SIGN UP, add yourself to the backup list if you would like more service hours throughout the summer. Each activity at each building has a separate backup list. Staff uses these lists to fill empty shifts.

Become a Volunteer - Adults and Teens

We appreciate and value the time and effort given by our volunteers. Over the past year our volunteers supported our commitment to excellence by contributing over 10,000 hours of time to the library.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Volunteers must be in grade nine or above.
  • Volunteers must successfully complete a volunteer application and skills assessment.
  • Volunteer opportunities do not require a current Naperville Public Library card.
  • Volunteer tasks and schedules vary. Specific departments may require a background check.

Fill out a Naperville Public Library Volunteer Application and Skills Assessment Form onsite and return to the desk prior to leaving the library. The library strives to place every applicant; however, volunteer opportunities are limited. Volunteers will be contacted by as opportunities become available and scheduled as needed.

The form is available at:

Join the Teen Advisory Group (TAG)

The TAG Team is a group of teens in grades 6-12 who work together with Teen Librarians to make Naperville Public Library a better place for teens. Want to let the Library know how we can make our services better for you and your friends? Join TAG!

TAG members attend monthly meetings. They provide input on various topics, like:

  • What activities are important for the Library to have
  • What books, music, and magazines do you want the library to offer
  • Suggestions for Teen spaces

TAG members can:

  • Earn Community Service Hours
  • Make New Friends
  • Develop Leadership Skills

TAG members must:

  • Have a valid Naperville Public Library card

To apply, please print the Teen Advisory Group application form, fill it out and return to the Adult Services Desk at the location where you would like to apply.
Note: the 95th Street Library TAGTeam is currently full. We will accept applications but are at capacity for now.
