1. How do I change my username?

You created a username the first time you signed in and registered. You can change your username at any time. To do so: 

1. Log in to your account. 
2. On the dropdown menu in the upper right corner, click My Settings. 
3. In the Account Information section, find Username. 
4. On the Username page, delete your current username, enter your new one. Click Save Changes. 
5. You’ll see the message “Your new information has been saved.” 

Note: The process for changing the username of a child under the age of 13 is similar to what is listed above. However, instead of typing in a new username, a color and an animal name must be selected from predetermined dropdown lists.

2. How do I change the email address associated with my account?

Your email address is required if you ever need to reset your PIN. We may also use it to send you notifications of items that are overdue or for holds that are ready for pickup.  

To change your email address:

1. Log in to your account. 
2. On the dropdown menu in the upper right corner, click My Settings. 
3. In the Account Information section, find Email Address. 
4. In the Email field, delete the current email address and enter the new one you want to use.
5.  Click Save Changes.
6.  You’ll see the message “Your new information has been saved.” 
7. A confirmation email will be sent to you. Your change will only take effect after you have followed the instructions in the email and confirmed your updated email address. Once you complete the confirmation, you will begin to receive notices to your new email. It may take around two weeks for you to stop receiving notices at the email that was preciously associated with your account.

Note: Your Digital Notification email is used to contact you when an e-Book or e-audiobook is available. It can be different from the email address the Library uses to contact you.

3. How do I change my PIN?

Along with your barcode or username, you enter your PIN to log in to your account. It was provided to you when you got your library card. To maintain security, it’s a good idea to change your PIN from the default that was issued to you. 

To change your PIN/password:

1. Log in to your account. 
2. On the dropdown menu in the upper right corner, click My Settings. 
3. In the Account Information section, find PIN. 
4. Go to the PIN page. 
5. In the Old PIN field, enter your existing PIN. 
6. In the New PIN field, enter the new PIN you want to use. 
7. In the Confirm New PIN field, enter the new PIN again.
8. Click Save PIN. 
9. You’ll see the message “Your new information has been saved.”

4. How do I change or add a preferred hold and pickup location?

1. Log in to your account. 
2. On the dropdown menu in the upper right had corner, click My Settings. 
3. In the Account Preferences section, find Holds and Pickup Location. 
4. Your current default pickup location is shown. To change it, select a different one from the dropdown list. 
5. To add another location, click Add Another Location, and then select the branch from the dropdown list. 
6. Click Save Changes. 
7. You’ll see the message “Preferences Saved.”

5. What is the default privacy setting for My Shelves and My Feeds?

My Shelves

The default privacy setting for your shelves is private. When you first register, you will be asked if you would like to change the privacy setting for any of your shelves. Those will only be made public if you choose to uncheck the boxes next to those items. You can change your privacy settings for your shelves at any time. 

Note: Changing the privacy setting for one or all of your shelves does not affect items already on that shelf. The setting applies only to new items that are added. However, you can change the privacy settings for individual items on your shelves. 

My Feeds

The default privacy setting for your activity feed is public. You can change your privacy setting for your activity feed at any time. Feed privacy also doesn't affect the visibility of lists you create, comments or lists you like, or any other content you create. It applies only to your activity feed

6. How do I change the default privacy settings for My Shelves?

Shelves enable you to keep track of everything you’ve read, watched, or listened to, are currently reading, watching, or listening to, or want to borrow in the future. If you set your shelves to be private, any ratings or comments you add to titles you have borrowed will only be public if the item is shared. In other words, if you write a comment on a movie that you just watched and your Completed Shelf is private, only you will see the comment. This is also true for quotations, videos, similar titles, summary, and suitability. 

To change the privacy defaults for My Shelves: 

1. Log in to your account. 
2. On the dropdown menu in the upper right corner, click My Settings. 
3. On the My Settings page, look for the Privacy section.
4.  In the Privacy section, under My Shelves, click Change. 
5. On the Privacy: My Shelves page, check or uncheck the checkbox to update to your preferred setting.
6. Click Save Changes. 
7. You’ll see the message “Your new information has been saved.” 

Note: You can change the default privacy setting for any shelf at any time. Changing the shelf default does not affect items already on that shelf. The setting applies only to new items that are added.

7. How do I change the privacy setting of individual items on My Shelves?

To make a single item private: 

1. Log in to your account. 
2. On the dropdown menu in the upper right corner, under My Collections click the shelf containing the title you want to change (For Later Shelf, Completed Shelf, or In Progress Shelf). 
3. Find the item. 
4. Click the Manage Item button next to it. 
5. From the dropdown menu, you will see a checkbox for Keep this item private. Click the checkbox to make the item private. A bar will appear at the bottom of the page with the message “Title marked as private. This will only be visible to you” 
   1. Note: If the box is already checked, the item is already private. If you uncheck the Keep this item private checkbox, the item will then be public, and you will see the message “Title marked as shared. This will be visible to the community.” 

To make multiple items private: 

1.  Log in to your account. 
2. On the dropdown menu in the upper right corner, under My Collections click the shelf containing the title you want to change (For Later Shelf, Completed Shelf, or In Progress Shelf). 
3. Do one of the following: 
   1. Click the checkbox next to each item you want to make private. 
   2. Click the checkbox above the items to select all of the items on the page.
4. A bar appears at the bottom of the page. Click Manage items, and then click Mark as private. You will then see a message saying how many items are now marked as private. 
   1. Note: There is an additional option on the Manage items menu to Mark as shared. Choosing this option will make all selected items public.

Note: Private items display a lock icon next to the title of the item.

8. How do I change the default privacy setting for my activity feed?

Your activity feed provides a timeline of your activity within the library catalog. It displays the items you add to your shelves, lists you create, comments, and ratings that you add to specific titles, and lists or comments by others that you like. When you register, the default privacy setting for your activity feed is public. 

To change the My Feeds privacy default: 

1. Log in to your account. 
2. On the dropdown menu in the upper right corner, click My Settings. 
3. On the My Settings page, look for the Privacy section. 
4. In the Privacy section, under My Feeds, click Change. 
5. On the Privacy: My Feeds page, check or uncheck the checkbox to update to your preferred setting. 
6. Click Save Changes. 
7. You’ll see the message “Your new information has been saved.”

Note: You will also see the option to update the privacy setting for your activity feed when viewing My Activity on the My Profile page.

9. How do I remove or make individual items private on my activity feed?

If your activity feed is public, you can remove or change the privacy setting of individual items. Private items are visible to you when you're logged in, but not visible to other users who look at your activity feed.

How to remove an item from your activity feed: 

If there's an item in your feed you don't want—for example, a title you added to a shelf but then deleted—you can remove it. 

1. Log in to your account. 
2. On the dropdown menu in the upper right corner, click My Profile. 
3. From your Profile page, you can get to your My Activity page by: 
   1. clicking the My Activity button, or 
   2. clicking the See all link at the bottom of the My Recent Activity feed at the right of the Profile page.
4. Next to each item in the feed is a menu. Click the arrow to open the menu, and then click Remove From Feed to delete the item from your feed. 

When you remove an item from your feed, it's no longer visible to you or to others (if your activity feed is public). Removing the item from the feed doesn't affect the action that made it appear in the feed. For example, if you remove an item you rated from your feed, that doesn't remove the rating.

To change the privacy setting of individual items on your activity feed: 

If your activity feed is public, you can make individual items private. 

1. Log in to your account. 
2. On the dropdown menu in the upper right corner, click My Profile. 
3. From your Profile page, you can get to your My Activity page by: 
   1. clicking the My Activity button, or 
   2. clicking the See all link at the bottom of the My Recent Activity feed at the right of the Profile page.
4. Next to each item in the feed is a menu. Click the arrow next to the item to open the menu, and then click Make Private to hide the item from your feed.
