Naperville Public Library welcomes donations in all forms including volunteering, materials, monetary, and in-kind donations.

Donate Materials

The Library welcomes the donation of gently used books and materials. Donations may be added to the collection according to the Materials Selection Policy (PDF). Items not added to the collection may be offered for sale or transferred to other institutions. All used book and media sale proceeds are used to benefit Naperville Public Library. Materials can be dropped off at the customer services desk at Nichols Library or 95th Street Library. Due to ongoing renovations at Naper Blvd. Library, donations will not be accepted at that location starting October 15, 2023, until renovations are complete.

Donate In-Kind

Support Naperville Public Library through in-kind donations. These can be coupons for summer and winter reading programs, raffle prizes, guest speaking services, or other means. Many individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations generously support Library programs throughout the year with goods and services. A wide array of opportunities are available and can be customized to fit your desires and budget.

Summer Reading Program Sponsorship

Become a sponsor for Naperville Public Library’s Summer Reading Program by providing coupons to your establishment as reading incentive prizes. This annual program runs from June-Aug. Sponsors are confirmed before the start of the program. If you are interested in being a sponsor, please email Lisa Nielsen

Winter Reading Program Sponsorship

Become a sponsor for Naperville Public Library’s Winter Family Reading Program by providing coupons to your establishment as reading incentive prizes. This annual program runs from Dec.–Jan. and is for children in 5th grade and younger. Sponsors are confirmed before the start of the program. If you are interested in being a sponsor, please email Lisa Nielsen.

Monetary Donations

The Library welcomes cash donations for memorial and honorary book purchases, program sponsorship, naming opportunities, and general fund support. Gifts can be made from bequests, trusts, or planned giving to the Library directly or through the Naperville Public Library Foundation.

Memorial or Honorary Donations

Naperville Public Library is honored to accept a memorial or honorary donation. This is a wonderful way to remember or acknowledge someone special.

For gifts used to purchase new library materials, our collection development staff makes every attempt to fulfill specific requests for material that is appropriate to that individual. When the donation is received, an acknowledgement is sent to the donor and the family (or other designee). When materials are put into circulation (usually about 4-6 weeks), a bookplate is placed inside the book’s cover and a notice goes to the donor and family informing them of the titles and locations of the materials purchased.

Thank you for considering Naperville Public Library as a means to honor someone important to you. To start the process, please fill out the Gifts and Memorials form, or call Catherine Wilcox at 630-637-2232 with any questions.
