The Naperville Public Library offers access to a collection of electronic books (eBooks) from netLibrary. NPL cardholders can create a free netLibrary account, and then checkout titles in our eBooks collection. The loan period for eBooks is 21 days, the same as for books from the Library’s print collections. No special hardware is needed to read eBooks. You may view them from any personal computer with Internet access, using any Web browser.

Creating an Account
You need to have a valid Naperville Library card to create an account. Go through a simple authentication process (Need your library card number and PIN number - typically, the last 4 digits of your phone #). After you have been authenticated, you will see a NetLibrary homepage with the Naperville Public Library logo displayed. Now you can create a user account with NetLibrary by clicking the Create a Free Account link in the top right navigation.

Login to your account
Visit NetLibrary. You will need your library card number and pin to get to NetLibrary. Then use your NetLibrary username and password  to login to your netLibrary account. You may log in by clicking the Log In link in the top right navigation or you may be directed to the login page if you attempt to access a feature that requires an account.

Once you have finished using the site you may log out by clicking the "Log Out" link in the top right navigation. Your session will log itself out after 20 minutes of inactivity.

1. Login to your NetLibrary Account.
2. Do a search to find the eBook you want.
3. Click on 'Show Details'.
   OR
4. Click on 'View this Book' > 'eBook Details' - Check out option is on the bottom

Once you have checked out an eBook, you have exclusive access to the eBook for the checked out period of 21 days. The eBook is automatically checked in when the checked out period expires.

Note: Only the eBook owned by the Naperville Public Library will have the option to 'CheckOut'. Else you can only browse the eBook.
